Lopez-Cantera raps PSC over PINs
From a news release:
House Majority Whip Carlos Lopez-Cantera (R-Miami) issued the following statement regarding calls today for the Inspector General of the Public Service Commission to investigate Public Service Commissioners’ conduct:
“The PIN messages sent and received by Commissioner Nancy Argenziano and released by the PSC, coupled with their discussion of private emails so far unreleased and sent to non-public accounts in an attempt to evade public scrutiny, raise serious questions about Commissioner Argenziano’s impartiality and her ability to give a fair hearing to those appearing before her.
“Also unsettling is for Commissioner Lisa Edgar to tell the Miami Herald ‘I don't PIN, it's just not something I do’ only to find numerous PIN’s from her appearing in newly released records. Her statements deserve serious questioning as well.
“An investigation into the Commissioners’ actions is in order to give assurance to Floridians that their Public Service Commissioners are conducting themselves under the oath of office that they have taken. The last few weeks have revealed a culture at the PSC that needs to be disinfected. If the PSC, as an arm of the Legislature, is unwilling to handle their own problems, it may be time for the Legislature to reform their organization for them.”
Representative Lopez-Cantera serves on the Public Service Commission Nominating Council.
