State GOP decries Crist spoof video

The Republican Party of Florida sent of the following in response to this anonymously produced video posted on the Buzz blog: Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida's Jewish Leadership Council, Dr. Jeffrey Feingold, today released the following statement, in memory of the six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust, condemning the offensive and racist video portraying Governor Charlie Crist as Adolf Hitler

“I find it in completely distasteful and utterly wrong that someone would create a video which attempts to compare the Governor of the State of Florida to Adolf Hitler, a man who committed persecution and genocide against millions of people, for political purposes. This blatantly insensitive video has no place in the U.S. Senate Campaign and its creators, whoever they are or whoever they are affiliated with, should be ashamed, ” said Dr. Jeffrey Feingold. “This video is not only offensive to members of the Jewish community, it is offensive to all Americans, and I, on behalf of all Florida Republicans, condemn this video and demand a full investigation to find out who is behind this disgraceful political attack video.”

Buzz also received a call from the Anti-Defamation League expressing concern that our posting the YouTube could be minimizing what the Nazis did. We sincerely regret if posting the video circluating among prominent politicos across Florida offended anyone or in any way belittled the horrors inflicted by Hitler. Buzz readers know by now our judgement is often suspect, but the video (that particular clip is used in numerous YouTube satires mocking Hillary Clinton and John McCain, among others) struck us as more of a depiction of a ranting lunatic on the cusp of defeat than of his victims.
