The Democratic Governors Association is committing $1-million to helping elect Alex Sink governor, by knocking down Bill McCollum. It's called the GOP Accountability Project and other targeted states include California, Colorado, Iowa and Ohio.

During a decades-long political career in Congress, Bill McCollum’s policy priorities were clear: work on behalf of Republican orthodoxy instead of small businesses and working families.

When he was in Congress, he pushed for rampant deregulation of financial firms,1 opposed making student loans more affordable2 and even tried to prevent the creation of low cost bank accounts for working families.3 He even voted against closing a loophole that let wealthy U.S. citizens renounce their citizenship to evade taxes.4 By the time he left Congress to run for the U.S. Senate, McCollum earned a rating of 8 out of 100 from a consumer protection group, the Consumer Federation of America.
