Rubio raises $1.75 million, best quarter yet
Good news keeps coming for U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio. Today he announced he's raised $1.75 million in the fourth quarter, his best quarter yet, leaving him with $2 million in cash on hand.
Even though his Republican opponent, Charlie Crist, is slipping in the polls, he still raised more than Rubio -- announcing he raised $2 million in the quarter with $7.5 million of cash on hand -- although he did not breakdown how much is for the Republican primary. The Democrat in the race, Kendrick Meek, has reported raising $1.2 million in the quarter, leaving him with $3.3 million on hand.
Rubio said "the overwhelming majority of this money was raised for the Republican primary.'' When the final reports come out, the primary numbers could provide a telling comparision of the two Republican competitors. As of Sept. 30, Crist had a 5-to-1 financial advantage for primary cash with $4.17 million on hand for the primary vs. $802,000 for Rubio.
