Secret news operation pops up in Tallahassee
SHHHHH. It’s a secret. A secret news operation.
They are calling it Sunshine State Network and a skeleton staff has moved into the FloridaPressCenterin Tallahassee. At the helm is John Wark, former bureau chief for the Tampa Tribune who has been living in Sarasotahandling free lance communication work the last few years.
With him is Lane Wright, a former Palm BeachCountytelevision person and Tim Epperson, a former Sarasota journalist. Wright registered the web site, Sunshinestatenews.com late last year.
They are coming "soon’’ to a web site near you, but the content and indeed the owners remain a secret.
"I’m being quiet about what I’m doing,’’ Wark said Thursday when visited by a St Petersburg Times Reporter. "There is nothing yet to talk about.’’

Justin Sayfie, the Fort Lauderdale GOP lawyer who founded Sayfie Review, an on line news service, was initially listed as one of the owners in papers filed last November with the Florida Department of State, but now says he has nothing to do with the business.
"I am no longer involved in any way,’’ Sayfie insisted. "..I haven’t been involved in it for a while.’’
Not since Feb. 5 according to papers filed with the state to make Wark the resident agent instead of Sayfie. When asked about Sayfie’s role in the organization, Wark said "You’ll have to ask Justin. Justin is a supporter.’’
Wark says the news service will be up and running on a free web site in early March when state legislators begin their annual 60-day session.
