A new poll shows Republican Sandy Adams beating incumbent U.S. Rep. Suzanne Kosmas, the latest indicator of the trouble Democrats face heading into November.

The poll, provided to the Buzz, shows Adams leading 49-37, with a margin of error of 4.9 percentage points. The survey included 400 likely voters and was conducted Aug. 31 to Sept. 1. The Public Opinion Strategies poll was commissioned by the Adams campaign and the NRCC. But it's no secret that Kosmas faces a tough climate despite being heavily focused on jobs and other needs of the Central Florida district.

"It’s impossible to take this partisan poll seriously. As voters learn more about Tallahassee politician Sandy Adams and her strange ideas that won't do anything to create jobs or improve the economy, they will see her priorities are wrong for Central Florida," said Kosmas campaign spokesman Marc Goldberg,  adding that voters should "stay tuned."

Kosmas' biggest liability, aside from general animosity toward Democrats, could be her support of the health care bill. She opposed the first version but voted for the final one, saying there were enough cost cutting measures. Of those polled, 34 percent approved the bill and 63 percent opposed it.

The poll found that 38 percent of voters approve of President Barack Obama's job performance, while 58 percent disapprove. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was even less popular, 30-64.

Republicans were touting a weekend report on ABC News in which reporter Rick Klein included Kosmas in a group of three Democrats who could see national party funding dry up if polling does not improve. 

The Buzz rankings by our colleague Louis Jacobson list Kosmas as one of the most vulnerable Democrats in Florida. That's underscored by a new analysis by Rothenberg Political Report, which has moved the Kosmas seat into the "Republican favored" category.
