Alex Sink says she's still pondering another congressional bid

UPDATE: And the National Republican Congressional Committee has this to say about a Sink candidacy: “Pinellas families rejected Alex Sink already once this year for being Nancy Pelosi’s handpicked candidate. If Sink, the Pelosi-Obamacare supporting candidate, decides to run again this November it will truly be the definition of insanity.”

Democrat Alex Sink today said she's still mulling over whether to run again for Congress against David Jolly, the Republican who narrowly defeated her in a special election in Pinellas County in March.

Speaking to the Tampa Bay Times today, Sink said she has received a detailed analysis of the voting in the March 11 race, in which Jolly received 48.4 percent of the vote, Sink received 46.5 percent, Libertarian Lucas Overby received 4.8 percent and a write-in candidate received less than 0.2 percent.

She said the data showed Republicans and Democrats voted about like her campaign expected, but not as many independent voters took part in the election. She said she believes her lead among independent voters was in double digits.

Now, she said, "the question is really about November and what the electorate will look like." In the regularly scheduled November election, turnout will be higher and more independent voters might show up, she pointed out.
