An endorsement looming from Mike Fasano?
There's only one endorsement that could matter immensely in the race to succeed former state Rep. Mike Fasano in the west Pasco District 36: Mike Fasano's.
The recently appointed tax collector has said he expects to stay neutral, however, and wouldn't even commit to backing the eventual Republican nominee, who will face Democrat Amanda Murphy in the general election.
But after a couple weeks watching his would-be successors Fasano hardly sounds committed to staying neutral. And he does sound open minded about possibly endorsing Murphy.
Here's how the maverick consumer advocate put it to Buzz:
"All of a sudden the state GOP wants to be my best friend. The same GOP that stood by while the local few in GOP voted me off the Pasco GOP Executive Committee last year. The same GOP that funded my primary opponent. The candidate who advocates in helping the uninsured of Pasco and Florida, the candidate who won't follow the script and the Tallahassee leadership on every vote, the candidate who will sincerely want to help and protect the little guy and gal will get my full support."
