Bill Posey wants to limit Washington's 'revolving door'
Rep. Bill Posey, R-Rockledge, is trying to limit on one of Washington's time-honored tricks: the revolving door.
He said today that he'll reintroduce the Stop the Revolving Door in Washington Act, which would make the limit members of Congress wait five years before they can return to lobbying their former colleagues. Currently former House members must wait only a year.
Separate legislation would make members who lobby give up federal retirement benefits.
“Sometimes in Washington people forget that working in Congress, or in a federal agency, is first and foremost about serving your fellow Americans – that’s where the focus needs to be. These bills would restore that focus and eliminate distractions,” Posey said.
