Bill Young's old team steps up for Billy Young

A couple longtime former top aides to the late C.W. Bill Young, lobbyists Harry Glenn and Doug Gregory, are helping host a June 5 fundraiser for Young's son, Bill Young and his campaign to unseat Democratic state Rep. Dwight Dudley. Others on the host committee include Dr. Bruce and Amy Epstein, Jim MacDougald, Carl Kuttler, Jr., Betty Sembler, Mel Sembler, and Brent Sembler.

Here's part of the letter sent by Gregory and Glenn:

In one of the last conversations we had, Bill’s dad told us how proud he was of his son’s plan to continue his family’s legacy of public service.   Bill grew up watching his father in action, and learned how to serve people the right way -- with honor, with respect and with humility.  That is how Bill wants to serve the people of Pinellas County in Tallahassee and we hope you will consider joining us for this reception to learn a little more about him and his viewpoints on the issues of the day that are most important to our neighbors in Pinellas and throughout the state of Florida.

Congressman Young would always say that his least favorite part of the job was raising money.  He knew, however, that it was a necessary part of the political process.  Bill Jr. shares the same feeling but needs to start the process in order to run a successful and efficient campaign over the next five months.

We would encourage you to support Bill with a kind word or two to your friends and neighbors and to consider writing a check to his campaign.  You were an important part of Congressman Young’s life and his team over the years and we hope you will help Bill carry on his father’s work by joining his team.
