Bush aligned PAC files FEC complaint against Donald Trump
Right to Rise PAC, the group aligned with Jeb Bush, is asking the FEC to investigate Donald Trump's use of his in-house corporate lawyer for campaign purposes.
The complaint follows a threat from Trump's lawyer against the PAC, which mirrors similar threats against others who have criticized Trump. But Right to Rise PAC is not the same as the Right to Rise super PAC.
"Please be aware that RTR is a federal "Leadership PAC" that has never produced, and has no plans to produce, advertisements against your client, or any political candidate for that matter," reads a letter to Trump's lawyer. "As a Leadership PAC, RTR was organized to raise money to support conservative candidates through direct contributions. In fact, RTR has made almost $300,000 in contributions since its creation in January 2015. Unlike your client, we only support conservative candidates."
The complaint was shared first with Politico then other news organizations.
