Carlos Lopez-Cantera touts 'contempt for government' in new ad
Florida Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera says in a new web ad for his Republican U.S. Senate campaign that all public officials should "have a little bit of contempt for government in their heart."
"Then, you are always, constantly, trying to fix the problem," he says in the minute-long spot, which was unveiled Friday.
All the Republicans in the race to succeed Sen. Marco Rubio have struggled to make themselves known to voters. With Donald Trump as their presumptive presidential nominee, each candidate has also tried to some extent to harness Trump's anti-Washington message.
Lopez-Cantera, who ran as Gov. Rick Scott's running mate in 2014, has yet to break out in terms of fundraising. The new ad will be backed by a statewide online media buy.
An earlier campaign video introduced voters to Lopez-Cantera as the son of a Cuban immigrant.
