Clinton campaign to seek Hispanic votes with help from 'Dreamers'
Hillary Clinton will step up Hispanic outreach in Florida this week around a trio of phone banks marking the four-year anniversary of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, the Obama administration program that has shielded hundreds of thousands of youths from deportation.
The phone banks are part of a program, Mi Sueño, Tu Voto (My Dream, Your Vote), “to empower DREAMers to organize and engage their communities, and secure commitments to vote for their future in November,” according to the Clinton campaign.
DACA has protected nearly 30,000 youths in Florida. Clinton says she would extend the program and expand additional rights for undocumented immigrants.
Three phone banks will be held in Florida this week, led by Dreamers:
- Monday in Miami with Carolina Sanchez.
- Wednesday in Orlando with Claudia Contreras.
- Friday in Kissimmee with Mariana Sanchez Ramirez.
