Congressman C.W. Bill Young's family celebrates his grandson's christening in Walter Reed hospital room
This is a family photo of U.S. Rep C.W. Bill Young taken Tuesday at Walter Reed Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., where Young has been hospitalized, and where he recently announced his intention to retire at the end of his term next year. Beverly Young, the congressman's wife, is at his side holding his hand.
The occasion for the photo was the baptism of Young's 3-month-old grandson, Easton Hunter Young. Family members and Easton's godparents are in the picture. Easton's godfather, NASCAR driver Kurt Busch, is on the far left.
Young's son Bill Young II, Easton's father, said his father is doing well in the hospital and that the congressman enjoyed the ceremony on Tuesday. "Any time that your whole family can be a part of someone taking a step in their religious life is great."
On Thursday, the family said Rep. Young's condition "turned for the worse over night and he is gravely ill." On Friday, the family said his condition remains the same.
Bill Young II, who is behind his mother Beverly in the photo, wrote Friday of his father: "He is a fighter, always has been, always will be!"
