Conservative Florida political blogger arrested on attempted murder charge
From our friends at the Miami Herald:
One of the state's leading political blogger voices was arrested in Pompano Beach Saturday on attempted murder charges, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office website.
Javier Manjarres, 43, known as The Shark and whose website is called The Shark Tank, was taken into custody Saturday morning and charged with attempted murder with a gun and burglary of a conveyance with battery, the website shows. He is being held without bond.
No other details were available Monday night.
Manjarres, one of the most popular conservative blogging voices in Florida, is well known for covering state politics, particularly the career of state Sen. Marco Rubio. He's known for showing up at political events with his video camera and sometimes landing exclusive interviews with Republican politicians. He also participates in the Tampa Bay Times' regular Florida Insider Polls.
The Miami New Times reported that Manjarres was arrested in 1995 for punching out a man who was dating his old girlfriend in Palm Beach County.
