$42k for Heller in HD 52

From the Bill Heller campaign: "In less than a month, Bill Heller has established himself as the Democratic frontrunner for House District 52. After entering the race June 2, 2006 with four weeks left in the reporting period, Bill Heller will report total contributions of $42,260 in his first campaign finance filing. More than 90% of those contributions were made by local individuals and businesses, and the total represents donations from 187 contributors.

In comparison, no other 2006 state house candidate in Pinellas County has reported a single month of fundraising this successful. In the race for District 52, Republican candidate Angelo Cappelli’s best full quarter was only $37,030. In a full year in the race, Democrat Liz McCallum has reported a total of $23,230 and, as of her last report, had only $2272 on hand.

“My campaign is off to a strong start,” said Heller. “While the total dollar figure is great news, what’s even more significant is that almost all of these funds came from individuals in our community, confirming broad local support for my candidacy.”
