About that Pitts-Lee Rumor
An anonymous poster used the Buzz several times to suggest Freddie Pitts and Wilbert Lee were paid for their "miraculous conversion" to Jim Davis. But it's not true, says Pitts, Lee, the Jim Davis campaign and the Democratic Party.
"What a joke," said Pitts, reached at home in Miami Sunday. "I would have been the first to go to the press with (someone trying to buy my support) It's the usual dirty, sleazy politics. Someone is trying to drive a wedge between blacks and Jim Davis." Pitts said he decided to support Davis after a primary election radio ad attacking the 1990 vote made it seem as though Pitts participated. It was not his voice, only someone pretending to be him. Pitts and Lee appeared recently with Jim Davis as he apologized (and they accepted) for his vote against state compensation for time they served on a bogus conviction. UPDATE: Reached Monday morning, Lee said: "That's a total lie. I don't know anything about that."
