After blocking Sink at first and goal, McCollum tries to score points on SBA

October

This isn't exactly the riveting equivalent of an LSU-UF game in Death Valley at night, but the more subtle tussle between the two Cabinet members vying to be governor continues to play out in the debate over (queue up the halftime band drumroll here....) SBA oversight.

Attorney General and Republican candidate Bill McCollum recently blocked the attempt by CFO and Democratic candidate Alex Sink to move toward the goal line her proposed expansion of the SBA trustees board (which is now just Sink, McCollum and Gov. Charlie Crist).

Sink followed up earlier this week with a letter to the SBA's advisory investment board, pitching her proposal and vowing to carry the ball herself by presenting her ideas at the advisory group's December meeting.

Well, here comes McCollum with the late-quarter sneak: A letter today, sent to Senate President Jeff Atwater and House Speaker Larry Cretul, urging their chambers to pass legislation this coming session that would expand membership not of the SBA trustees -- but of the advisory investment board, by three people.

Read here the letter to Atwater, which is the same letter sent to Cretul: Download McCollum SBA Letter 100909

This political game will no doubt go into overtime, ending in...November 2010. Until then, there's always this weekend of real football to watch...
