After moment of silence, Florida votes for Romney
During the state-by-state roll call at the Republican National Convention Tuesday, Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll announced that the state cast all 50 votes for Mitt Romney. She did so after calling for a moment of silence for people enduring Tropical Storm Isaac.
"Florida is the Sunshine State -- well, most times," Carroll said. She put in a plug for Gov. Rick Scott, "who has shown America that Florida knows how to prepare and respond to hurricanes and provide hospitality to our visitors."
Carroll said Florida was the first major state where Romney won a primary. Not mentioned was the fact that the size of the Florida delegation was cut to half its size because state Republican leaders voted to defy national party rules and move up the date of the state's presidential primary.
