Alex Sink's last hopes

3

November

Sink pollster Dave Beattie said Sink appeared to be down 90,000 votes at 11 p.m. and there were still significant numbers of votes uncounted in Democrat-heavy Palm Beach, Broward and Miami Dade Counties.

"I don't know if there's enough. We're hoping there are,'' he said.

He said that the supervisor of elections in Palm Beach has told the campaign they are moving slowly and deliberately with their count. Also, Hillsborough County has notified them they have found some 38,000 votes from early voting that were going to have to be re-entered and that could take several hours to tally. Beaettie said that Sink is expected to have won the final days of early voting but he didn't know whether the Hillsborough votes were in the early or late stage of early voting.

UPDATE: Alex Sink told a crowd of about 300 people at her election night party in Tampa at 12:15 that the results have been as expected: a nail-biter. She called it a "classic Florida election,'' that's "coming down to the wire in what looks to be a dead-even race,'' she said. "We're Floridians, so we know what it means to count every single vote. So, this is what we're going to do. We're going to let the people of Florida -- all the people of Florida -- have their voices heard."

"We will wait to have all the voices heard,'' she said.
