Allen West on Wasserman Schultz: 'She is not a victim'
The storm over Allen West's sharp comments toward fellow Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz continues today with West's opponents trying to capitalize, suggested he was unstable and anti-women, and West pushing back himself.
"She is not a victim," the South Florida Republican said on FOX News. (Wasserman Schultz will be on MSNBC at 1 p.m.)
West's spokewoman, Angela Sachitano, added in a statement to the Buzz: "Give me a break. Congressman West does not hate women. He has been married to a PHD for 20 years, he has two teenage daughters, and he has said over and over again the biggest influence on his life was his mother Snooks- whose 8 X 10 picture graces his Congressional office today. He has several Senior members of his staff including his Communications Director, Deputy District Director and Finance Director. This is about a long standing issue between Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman- Schultz and Congressman West, dating back to when she staged a protest in front of his Campaign office when he was running for Congress. That's it." See protest video in the jump.
Meantime, West's Democratic challengers, Lois Frankel and Patrick Murphy, jumped on his words. "Enough is enough. His conduct is unbecoming a member of Congress. He has disrespected his office and should be censured by the House of Representatives immediately."
