The rumor is that House Speaker Dean Cannon is ready to endorse Rick Perry for president. Cannon didn't return calls for comment. But Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fort Walton Beach, who backed Perry right out of the gate, indicated he thinks Cannon's support is coming.

"Having served under Speaker Cannon, it would not surprise me at all if he was supportive of Governor Perry because they share similar ideology. They governed the same way. If you look at sone of the things we’ve done in the House, from a regulatory standpoint, from a litigation reform standpoint, we were using the Texas playbook."

In addition to Gaetz, his dad, Sen. Don Gaetz, and state Reps. Jeff Brandes have already endorsed Perry.

And Rep. Dana Young posted this on her Facebook page last week: "I'm so glad Gov. Perry entered the race. I love his energy, laser focus, & proven record of job creation. But isn't an endorsement...yet. :)"
