Another candidate joins GOP field for U.S. Senate
Orlando Sentinel: Conservative activist, journalist and blogger Marielena Stuart of Ave Maria has entered the Republican field for the U.S. Senate, hoping to stake out the far-right of an already conservative field, at least on social and international issues.
Stuart, 55, a Cuban immigrant whose full name is Marielena Montesino de Stuart, filed her statement of candidacy with the Federal Elections Commission on Aug. 11, and announced it Monday.
She immigrated from Cuba as a girl in the late 1960s. A professional translator and writer, she speaks three languages and said she intends to campaign in all three: English, Spanish and French, to reach Hispanic and Haitian voters.
Her campaign website is here.
