Another Democratic election snafu in Palm Beach
Palm Beach Post: Within minutes of Allison Tant’s Saturday victory over Alan Clendenin in a bitter fight for Florida Democratic Party chairman, the rivals went into speed-healing mode by hugging, raising their arms together and professing their commitment to party unity.
Whether the fallout from the chairman’s race will dissipate as quickly in Palm Beach County remains to be seen.
The county’s Democratic Committeeman, John Ramos, bucked his local Democratic Executive Committee by supporting Tant after the DEC passed a resolution this month endorsing Clendenin. At least one DEC member, Boca-Delray Democratic Club President Linda Rosenthal, said Saturday she’ll ask party activists to boot Ramos.
“I think there’s going to be a movement to unseat him. … He was obligated as a duly elected, newly re-elected state committeeman to abide by the wishes of the DEC,” said Rosenthal, whose husband, Irving Rosenthal, was one of two candidates who ran against Ramos for committeeman when the DEC chose leaders in December.
Funny thing is, we're told that Romos' votes was disqualified anyway, because he botched his ballot. Par for the course in Palm Beach County.
