Another Medicare ad targets Allen West
A Democratic PAC is spending about $20,000 on radio ads against South Florida Rep. Allen West, criticizing his support of the GOP budget plan that would move toward privatizing Medicare.
"West just voted for the Republican budget that raises the share of the tax burden on the middle class," a narrator says. "And West’s plan threatens to end Medicare as we know it. That’s right, end Medicare as we know it." Listen to the ad here.
The ad comes from House Majority PAC, a new independent expenditure group that is working to combat the flood of money that went to Republicans in 2010. West is one of 10 House Republicans targeted.
West has defended his vote for the budget.
A source put the ad buy at about $20,000, significantly more than what the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee invested in a radio ad. The new spot will run through Friday on three West Palm stations WLYF-FM; WEAT-FM; and WIRK-FM.
West got some help in the form of an ad by the 60 Plus Association, which said in a radio ad that his vote was in fact saving Medicare.
