Another Republican sniffing run for U.S. Senate
Nick Loeb, a 35-year-old Delray Beach resident and scion to the New York Loeb-Rhodes banking fortune, is talking to people about running as a Republican for U.S. Senate. Normally we wouldn't take much note of a prospective U.S. Senate candidate who couldn't even win a seat on the Delray Beach City Commission, but there is something that sets this guy apart: His girlfriend, Sophia Vergara, left, an actor on "Modern Family" nominated for Golden Globe.
Loeb ran for Adam Hasner's state House seat and Jeff Atwater's state senate seat in 2009, but dropped out before election day. He does have the potential to pump in a lot of his own family money - he father, John L Loeb Jr., was Reagan's Ambassador to Denmark - and raise significant money. He raised about $300,000 for his short-lived state senate race.
