Jack Miles, Gov. Rick Scott's secretary of the Department of Management Services, resigned on Wednesday, effective at the end of March. Miles' chief of staff, Brett Ryman, also resigned from the agency. DMS serves as the admnistrative arm of state government in areas such as personnel and purchasing and also serves as manager of the state's extensive real estate holdings.

Miles, a former senior director at CIGNA, the health care provider, resigns a few weeks after Secretary of State Kurt Browning stepped down to run for Pasco County school superintendent.
