Another sign that Bill Young is ramping up
U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young's re-election effort has begun gearing up, despite the congressman having yet to make the announcement.
Recently, the 21-term House member sent out a petition and fund-raising letter keyed off his need to prepare early for the Nov. 6 general election. Last week, Democrats Jessica Ehrlich and Nina Hayden announced campaigns against the longtime officeholder. Young, who remains a favorite, is widely expected to run again, and began fund-raising earlier than normal. (We're told to consider it settled that he's running.)
Some snippets from his solicitation (download it below):
"With Florida’s presidential primary now behind us, I wanted to welcome you to what will be a very busy political year. As you know, I do not believe in long political campaigns, but this year I need to get prepared earlier than usual as the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee from Washington has been targeting me nonstop since the beginning of last year," he wrote.
"The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee raised more than $61 million last year alone to try and win this Congressional seat and others around the nation, so you know money is no object with them."
"Florida is a battleground state this year in the Presidential campaign, the race for the U.S. Senate and in our Congressional campaign. That is why the Democrats from Washington are targeting so much of their time and energy around our state and here in Pinellas County."
