Arza State Rep. Ralph Arza will not seek re-election. "I do not want to be the story. They deserve better than that," Arza said of the upcoming session to be led by incoming Speaker Marco Rubio.

Arza apologized for leaving a racial slur on the cell phone of fellow lawmaker Gus Barreiro but displayed annoyance that the conversation was made public. And he denied again using the N-word previously to describe Miami-Dade County schools Superintendent Rudy Crew.

"I have dedicated myself to helping the Cuban community, the black community and also the white community," Arza said.

Arza said he hoped Republicans would fill his seat with somoene with a background in education - a likely signal he wants Frank Bolanos to fill his spot. "I think Tallahassee needs a Republican teacher, educator in the chamber."
