Jim Davis concluded a frenzied sprint for votes Tuesday by returning to where his political career began nearly two decades ago - Tampa. He stopped at polling places then the Tampa convention center before heading to the Westshore Hilton to await the results with his family (and, if hotel staff allowed, his black lab mix, Georgia)

Earlier in the day, Davis toured retirement communities in Palm Beach and Broward counties. A few of his heavy-hitting friends showed up to help: U.S. Reps. Robert Wexler and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (pictured) and Bob Graham.

"I feel good," Davis said. "I always said this was going to be a close race."
