Backpedalling, Florida GOP plans to release audit report
State GOP Chairman John Thrasher had a hastily arranged conference call with members of the state party's executive board today, where it was agreed the party should go ahead and release the full forensic audit that was conducted. On Saturday the board had decided to indefinitely keep the audit report private, which didn't exactly inspire confidence that the party had nothing to hide.
Details to come on precisely when the report will be released, though we hear the Marco Rubio campaign was among those urging that the issue be reconsidered and the report be released. From what we've heard so far, much of what's in the report had already been reported.UPDATE: "The Executive Board of the Republican Party of Florida unanimously voted today, during a conference call, to release the forensic audit of the party’s finances detailing the gross mismanagement of the Party under Gov. Charlie Crist and his hand-picked chairman Jim Greer. The audit by Alston & Bird LLP will be released Friday," Thrasher said in a statement.
