Baker's next move?
Rumors are flying around the Buzz that a poll around the Christmas holiday asked residents in St. Petersburg if they would favor extending term limits for mayor (currently two, 4-year terms). The poll also asked residents if they would favor a new, countywide mayor position, say local politicos aware of the poll.
It's unclear who paid for the polling and who conducted the survey, but it would sure seem to benefit current St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Baker, who in November said he wasn't jumping ship for Gov. Charlie Crist's administration and whose term expires in 2010. Baker, a Republican with high aspirations, would have four years to kill before a possible run for governor in 2014.
Anyone get the call? What else was asked, Buzz wonders.
