Bill McCollum to trial lawers: Apology is inadequate

Bill McCollum's statement on the Florida Justice Association being behind the racially charged flier in the recent Senate District 8 special election (story here): “We expect lawyers to not only obey the law but to act in a manner consistent with both the judicial process and the treatment of every individual with respect. I am appalled that the Florida Justice Association engaged in this behavior and their apology is clearly a case of too little too late.”

Putting aside the sleaze factor, can someone explain to us the strategy? Was the thinking that white supremacists would rise up to defeat John Thrasher?
