Bill Nelson tries to gain support (and campaign $) off Rush Limbaugh
A campaign e-mail, with a $$$ solicitation at the end, from Sen. Bill Nelson:
By now, you've probably heard about Rush Limbaugh's tirade against a law school student who testified before Congress.
Many people feel the radio talk-show host has crossed the line a lot over the years, but that his attack on this young woman marked a new low in American civility -- which seems to be slipping lower and lower, both in our politics and public discourse.
After a three-day verbal assault, Rush Limbaugh issued what many viewed as an insincere apology. The American people, and especially this young woman, deserve much better.
If you're tired of this kind of bad behavior, urge Rush Limbaugh to offer a sincere apology.
I think we've got way too much incivility in our public discourse these days, and it's time to tone it down.
Whether you agree or disagree with Rush Limbaugh's political views, this incident was mean-spirited, an in-your-face kind of behavior that's reflective of intolerance and an ideological rigidity.
Such a poor example set by Rush Limbaugh each day for 15 million radio listeners can only breed more incivility and intolerance.
Please send Rush Limbaugh a message now: Urge him to do the right thing, make a sincere apology, and help restore a higher level of civility in our nation's political discourse.
