Billboard blames Gov. Scott for lack of immigration control

flimen_billboard.jpg Floridians for Immigration Enforcement, an advocacy group, has paid for a billboard that blames Gov. Rick Scott for what it perceives as lax immigration enforcement.

"They feel the governor is not doing enough," said Bill Landes, a Florida Minuteman aligned with the group. He identified the lack of E-Verify as the issue.

The sign is on the southbound side of I-75, between I-10 and the George state line, and reads: "Welcome illegal aliens. We offer jobs, free health care, education & benefits. Thank Gov. Scott."

Scott, of course, can't pass legislation. But he was among the advocates for E-Verify, which was defeated in the 2011 legislative session.
