Blago's PR blitz guided from Tampa
Who's behind Gov. Rod Blagojevich's TV blitz in recent days? None other than Glenn Selig, of the Publicity Agency in Tampa.
"He felt like his voice wasn’t being heard and certainly wouldn’t be heard if he went to Springfield,” Selig told the State Journal-Register in Illinois. “I think people are listening: ‘Play the tapes; let me call witnesses; let me present my side of the story; don’t do this without giving me a chance to defend myself.’ ”
Not everybody buys the media strategy: “Like many, I’ve been scratching my head over the strategy,” said Dennis Culloton, executive vice president of the Res Publica Group in Chicago, who was press secretary for Gov. George Ryan. “It’s not helping him in the Illinois Senate one bit. It’s not going to prevent him from being indicted.”
