Butterworth likes LeMieux for U.S. Senate
Is it crazy to think of U.S. Sen. Bob Butterworth?
Some Tally insiders can see it, partly because Butterworth and Gov. Charlie Crist both served as Florida attorney general and because Butterworth recently served as head of the Department of Children and Families under Crist.
But the man himself says there's no way Crist would appoint a Democrat. Instead, Butterworth says Crist should look no further than George LeMieux, the gov's former chief of staff. "He’s one of the smartest young public servants I've ever run into," Butterworth said. "I think he’d be great. He’s someone the governor can trust."
Butterworth's backup pick: Jim Smith.
