Call cripples competing auto insurance bill

The mandatory bodily injury bill sponsored by Senators Dave Aronberg and J.D. Alexander may not be able to be considered in this special session.

If you read the special session proclamation, it's pretty narrowly defined to HB13 and "any identical bill filed in the Senate, or other similar legislation, which reenacts, with reforms, the Florida Motor Vehicle No-Fault Law." The mandatory bodily injury bill doesn't reenact no-fault laws.

"We're not allowed to introduce our bill," Aronberg said. "We could try to amend Sen. Posey's bill, that's some heavy lifting in his own committee. But that's unlikely to happen."
