Cash rolling into Crist-friendly committee
Money is starting to flow into the 527 election committee state Sen. Mike Fasano, R-New Port Richey, set up to help Charlie Crist's independent campaign for U.S. Senate. Contribution records show $101,900, with the bulk coming in recent weeks.
Fasano, who is being helped by former Senate President Ken Pruitt, said he formed Friends for Freedom and Prosperity because Crist has lost access to establishment Republican money.
A $30,000 check came on Aug. 6 from Robert Stork, a Vero Beach businessman who has also funneled big money to a committee helping Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill McCollum. Another $50,000 came from Incepture Inc., a Jacksonville-based staffing company. So far, the committee has spent very little.
