Chamber Poll Shows Crist by 11%
Well, here's another reason to watch Tuesday night's gubernatorial debate: The polls don't agree.
The same day Quinnipiac University showed Jim Davis just 2 points behind Charlie Crist, the Florida Chamber of Commerce released polling numbers showing that Crist in the lead with 49 percent to Davis’ 38 percent among registered voters.
Crist’s lead increases to 54 percent to Davis’ 36 percent when the sample is reduced to most likely voters.
The poll was conducted for the Florida Chamber from October 16-21, 2006 by The Cromer Group, a Washington D.C. based firm. The poll surveyed 750 registered voters and has a sampling error of +/- 3.5 percent. The poll was weighted for age, race, gender and demographic distribution.
“If we see voter turnout on November 7 comparable to the low turnout during the primaries, this race could be a landslide," said Marian Johnson, vice president of political strategy for the Florida Chamber.
