Chauncey Goss racking up conservative endorsements
When Connie Mack IV first announced he was giving up his safe Republican seat in southwest Florida to run for U.S. Senate, most of the Buzz we heard for successors centered Trey Radel, the radio and TV personality, and state Rep. Gary Aubuchon. When we asked about Chauncey Goss - son of former CIA director Port Goss who used to represent that area - local politicos tended to dismiss him as a carpet bagger far more familiar with Washington and prep schools than Congressional District 19.
Endorsements don't typically mean much, but it's hard to ignore the ones Goss is getting: Jeb Bush, Paul Ryan (with whom he worked as a staffer for the US House Budget Committee), and today Erick Erickson of RedState:
"He gets it right on budget issues and is not willing to join the growing voices among Republicans in Washington flirting with tax increases and other ways to boost income into Washington’s coffers. He’s also very willing, in Florida, to be vocally in favor of full repeal of Obamcare.
