Clinton helped Atwater's opponent
When Sen. Hillary Clinton was in Broward County on Thursday she hosted a private gathering for those supporting South Florida Democrat Linda Bird who is running against incoming Senate President Jeff Atwater this fall.
The gathering happened at the King's Point condo community, before Clinton gave her speech in a theater. About 60 people got access to Clinton before the speech, including Bird's supporters. Bird called it a "political clutch," during which Clinton spent 20 minutes meeting and speaking to a group of Bird's close supporters.
"She came to support my campaign and gave us a wonderful speech and she thanked me for the work I’ve done as a grassroots organizer for Broward County," Bird said.
