CNN/Time poll: Scott and Sink are in virtual tie
The latest CNN/Time Opinion Research Corporation poll shows a virtual dead heat in the race for Florida's governor's office, with Republican Rick Scott receiving 49 percent of the vote and Democrat Alex Sink 46 percent — but a margin of error (3.5 percentage points) that more than covers the difference.
The poll of likely voters also looked at Florida's increasingly predictable U.S. Senate race, in which Republican Marco Rubio now leads by 14 percentage points. The spread was 11 points in late September. Rubio has 46 percent support, compared to Gov. Charlie Crist with 32 percent and Kendrick Meek with 20 percent. The margin of error was the same 3.5 percentage points.
But the margins in both elections both shrink if the poll measures registered instead of likely voters. In a bad sign for Democratic candidates on the ballot, the poll reported that 55 percent disapprove of the job President Barack Obama is doing and 41 percent approve.
