Congressional Hispanic Caucus wants to hear more about Rubio's plan
Sen. Marco Rubio met yesterday with leaders of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus to discuss his Dream Act alternative, which would provide legal status for children of illegal immigrants, but not a path to citizenship.
Rep. Charles A. Gonzalez, D-TX, released a statement this morning:
“The Congressional Hispanic Caucus is always open to commence meaningful dialogue about immigration reform. After hearing Senator Marco Rubio's positive remarks at the Hispanic Leadership Network in January, I invited him to speak with the CHC and start a conversation so that we could better understand his position.
“Until we know the details of his proposal, the CHC will not comment on specific provisions. We look forward to learning more about his plan and remain committed to working with any member who aims to enact meaningful reform.”
