Conservative group running TV ads in Florida against Boyd, Kosmas, Grayson
The 60 Plus Association, which portrays itself as the conservative counter to AARP, is starting to run TV commercials attacking three Florida Democrats for their support of the health care bill. The ads facing Reps. Allen Boyd, Alan Grayson and Suzanne Kosmas are part of an overall $4 million campaign by the group.
An AP story noted the ads are a test of a recent Supreme Court decision that has relaxed regualtions on corporate involvement in politics. Before the ruling, such groups had to couch their ad language as "issue ads" and had to beware of running up against Federal Election Commission rules. Now they are advocating for the ouster of a candidate, as this example shows:
