Crashing Crist's Tampa party for the Party
Well, the Buzz didn't quite manage to crash Gov. Charlie Crist's off-the-calendar soiree with the Republican Governors Association Tuesday afternoon.
But hanging in the lobby of Tampa's Intercontinental Hotel afforded a glimpse into the who's who of attendees making their way into the meeting spot, where Crist and Lemieux had promised to deliver a message about the "political climate here in Florida."
About two dozen attended, including: Sen. Ronda Storms, R-Brandon; Fowler White attorney and USF trustees chairwoman Rhea Law; and state Board of Education member Kathleen Shanahan, recently appointed to Crist's Florida Energy Action Team. Crist strode in with former chief of staff George Lemieux, plus his security detail and staffers including Dane Eagle. Florida RPOF chair Jim Greer came later.
The one-hour session, plus another a few hours earlier in Fort Lauderdale, are a run-up to an RGA event planned for Miami Beach next November. The Buzz would have liked to hear what was said, of course, but all we heard standing outside was the occasional smattering of applause. Oh, well. Maybe next time ...
