Crist campaign: Rubio scams system for personal benefit
Charlie Crist's campaign communications director Andrea Saul responds to this story:
“Apparently, Speaker Rubio thinks he is above the rules, and once again we are reminded of his questionable ethics. The New York Times and other media outlets fell in love with the idea of the ‘Republican Obama.’ He was supposed to be different: ideologically pure, ethically untouched.
“But in just a few short weeks of scrutiny, another Marco Rubio has emerged. The real Marco Rubio. This Marco Rubio is a wheeling and dealing Miami lobbyist and politician, always trying to scam the system for his personal benefit. Instead of serving the people who elected him, he’s busy dancing the Rubio Hustle.
“A committee that was intended to help elect other Republicans turned out to be a slush fund. The revelations in the St. Petersburg Times / Miami Herald article raise a number of serious questions regarding the money Speaker Rubio raised and spent. He needs to come clean about all of his questionable spending habits, and answer any questions that may arise.
“Washington has enough lobbyists, and certainly enough typical, entitled politicians who think the rules don’t apply to them, for Florida to send another.”
