Crist coming around on straw poll?
Gov. Crist had been conspicuously non-commital about plans for the Florida GOP holding a potentially pivotal "Presidency IV" straw poll in October, leading to lots of speculation that he opposed it because it was unwelcome by John McCain. But it sounds to us like he may be coming around. Crist's pick for state GOP chief, Jim Greer, is bullish on the idea that would ensure lots of presidential attention lavished on grass roots activists.
Greer: "Presidency IV would motivate our Republican grass roots throughout the state, and I also believe it would spotlight our governor and our state. However, I will follow the governor's lead."
