Crist donates leftover inaugural funds
Gov. Charlie Crist is donating to charity unspent money raised for his inaugural festivities.
The 2007 Florida Inaugural Committee raised $255,000 beyond the costs of the events, RPOF said Wednesday. The money will be given to Derrick Brooks Charities, the Jessica Marie Lunsford Foundation, John Walsh’s National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and the Florida Disaster Recovery Fund. Each organization will receive $63,750.
“I am thankful to the donors whose contributions enabled a wonderful celebration for the people of Florida,” Crist said. “Their generosity allowed Floridians to participate in the inaugural festivities free of charge and will now benefit countless others through these charitable organizations.”
