Crist grilling PSC finalists; Is Edgar out?
Gov. Charlie Crist will interview three Public Service Commission finalists starting at 11 a.m. today for an upcoming vacancy on the commission. Crist has until early October to make his decision, but could make it sooner. His staff won't say when Crist plans to make the appointment.
Crist said this morning that he doesn't favor reappointing incumbents, as a general rule, which could portend the ouster of incumbent Commissioner Lisa P. Edgar in favor of former state Rep. Luis E. Rojas. Also in the running is a little-known candidate, William Lee Dawson Jr. of Orlando, who works for the Orlando Utilities Commission.
(The three finalists were handed up by the legislature's 12-member PSC nominating council. Critics have complained that the nominating process was politicized. Really? Politicians playing politics with a political appointment? We're shocked. Shocked!) For more on the three candidates, go to the Fueling Station.
